Upgrade components

Upgrade components are things that can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets, and gathering tools to provide an added benefit or additional effect when the equipment is utilized. They can be purchased from vendors or other players, looted, gotten as an incentive, or even created by crafting materials. In addition to providing bonus points Upgrade items also be cosmetically beneficial.

Upgrade components include inscriptions, enhancements and infusions. They aren't generally available for general use, and can only be applied to ascending equipment or certain non-ascended weapons from the Factions campaign. You can recover infusions or inscriptions, as well as enrichments from equipment using an Infusion Extractor Device or by salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.

Unlike other upgrade items Phoenix Boxes are able to be traded while attached to the item they are upgrading, and can be re-used after being salvaged. These upgrade items can be used to boost weapon and armor quality without spending Dilithium. They can increase the chances that the item will receive a high-quality upgrade.

Upgrade components can be added to an item however, the original one is destroyed (except for legendaries and ascended equipment). Only upgraded  item upgrader  with an identification level of 0 or more can have upgrade components added to them. Adding an upgrade to an item that is already equipped with a prefix or suffix upgrade will display the name of the resulting item as it would appear in game (for example adding a Radiant Insignia to Canthan Armor will cause it to be referred to as Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). A player can only own three upgrade items at one time.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be a great addition to any item. They provide unique advantages and boosts. Certain glyphs increase the number of affixes an item has, thereby increasing its effectiveness. These glyphs are available through dungeons, and some be found in certain World Tier 3 areas. It is important to note that glyphs are only available to characters who have created a dungeon that has the same level of depth.

In order to use a Glyph first, you need to build it from components and connect them with anchors. The component will then automatically align with other components or paths in the same layer. If you don't wish to create the glyph with components, you can make use of a combination of anchors and paths. Drag an element near an element highlighted to snap it into the right spot.

Certain glyphs have requirements to satisfy, like having a minimum of 25 Dexterity in a specific region on the Paragon Board. Certain glyphs also require a certain number of Primary Stat nodes to activate and can be a challenge to achieve. Some glyphs also have a radius that increases as you move it up.

Glyphs are able to be applied to various items and weapons, except for those belonging to a specific class. Certain glyphs can be used with additional conditions, such as a certain amount of damage to Dexterity or Attack damage on a specific area of the Paragon board.

The Defend Glyph adds a 5% chance to deflect attacks from enemies. It also has an opportunity of 15%, making the Hero vulnerable for two turns.

Certain glyphs can also be used on limited tools, such as the Black Lion Chest and Trading Post. These glyphs count towards the Combat Mechanic Achievement.

The most commonly used glyphs are the attack glyphs, which increase the ATK substats of Artifacts by a flat value. These glyphs are especially useful for classes that use weapons with a range, such as Warriors or Rogues. Other glyphs include the Exploit Glyph, which makes enemies who strike the Hero vulnerable to being damaged.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used for rerolling a result rolled during an Action. When the reroll occurs they are discarded. Reroll tokens can be obtained through a variety of ways, including through the dungeons, raids and skirmishes. They can also be purchased at the shop or from other players. They are particularly beneficial in dungeons or trials because they allow players to reroll rewards at the end of the chest.

The values for recycling points are provided for items at level 1. If an item is recycled it will add a certain amount of points to the upgrade gauge. This is based on the rarity of the item and its level. In addition the upgraded item will not retain its level when rerolled and the cost for recycling an upgraded item goes up with the level of the item.

The player can also use reroll tokens in order to roll an item. However it won't restore the item's original stats or level. This is useful for those who wish to reroll an item that they don't love and want to keep it in their collection.

There are three different types of upgrade tokens available in the game: reroll random, and upgrade. Each type comes with a couple of subtypes. Reroll tokens for instance, come in three levels: rare, legendary and enhanced. Each requires a product of the level of its respective to make the new item with that quality.

To use rerolling tokens choose "Reroll Token" by right-clicking the Satanic or Angelic items in your inventory. Select a type of token. The tokens available are Item, Weapons, Misc, 1hguns, 2hguns, and Focus. The Item token can be used to create a brand new Item in any quality. Making use of the Weapon or Misc token will result in a new weapon of the same faction.

There is also a possibility that the item could be upgraded into a new item that has an increased level and the same extra stats. This is likely to happen when the item is in the Pool that cannot be dropped or was transferred to it as part of an Franchise Card.
